When a drive fails, the files are usually still on it. Getting them back safely takes the right tools and the right order of work. We recover data from every kind of storage, for home users and businesses, across Los Angeles and by mail from anywhere in the US.
What we recover from
- Desktop and laptop hard drives, including clicking, dropped and undetected drives
- SSDs: SATA, M.2 and NVMe, including drives that have locked up or disappeared
- RAID arrays and servers: RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10, and virtual machines
- NAS units from Synology, QNAP, WD, Buffalo, Drobo and others
- External USB drives from WD, Seagate, LaCie and Toshiba
- Macs, including Apple silicon and T2 models
- USB flash drives, SD and microSD cards, and camera media
- Drives damaged by fire, smoke, floods and spills
Why the order of work matters
A failing drive gets worse every time it is powered on. Recovery software, repeated restarts and “checking it one more time” all wear it down. We stabilise the drive first, image it sector by sector on specialist hardware, and recover your files from that image. If the drive has to be opened, that is done in a cleanroom.
If your drive is clicking, beeping or not detected, switch it off now. Leave it off until it reaches us. That single step saves more recoveries than anything else.
How it works
Book online or call, and we collect the drive or you ship it to us. An engineer evaluates it, tells you what can be recovered and gives you a fixed quote. Recovery only starts when you approve it, and we work from a copy of the drive, never your only original.
Questions we get asked
What are the chances of recovery?
High for most failures. Deleted files, logical corruption and most mechanical failures are recoverable. The main exceptions are drives whose platters are badly scratched, and SSDs where deleted data has already been erased by the drive itself.
Do you need my computer, or just the drive?
Just the drive is fine for desktops and most external drives. For laptops with soldered storage, Macs and encrypted systems, send the whole machine and its charger.
How do I get the data back?
On a new external drive that we supply, or as a secure download for smaller recoveries. You can also send a drive of your own.
