The cost of a recovery depends on what has gone wrong with the drive, not on how many files you want back. After the evaluation you get a fixed quote, and nothing more happens until you approve it.
| Level | What it covers | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Deleted files, formatted drives and file system corruption on a drive that still works | From $99 |
| Level 2 | Failing drives that need repair or careful imaging first: bad sectors, firmware faults, electronic failures, dropped drives | Quoted after evaluation |
| Level 3 | Cleanroom recoveries (head and motor replacement), SSD controller faults, RAID, NAS, servers and ransomware | Quoted after evaluation |
What affects the price
- The type of failure, which the evaluation identifies
- Drive capacity, which affects imaging time
- Whether donor parts are needed for a cleanroom repair
- The number of drives in a RAID or NAS
- Priority service, where we work continuously until the recovery is done
Also on your invoice
- A new drive to return your data on, unless you send your own
- Return shipping
- On-site attendance, where you book it
Questions we get asked
Is the evaluation free?
Call us to discuss your case. We tell you what the evaluation costs, if anything, before you send the drive. The Level 1 starting price includes the diagnostics.
Can I get a firm price before sending the drive?
We can give a likely range on the phone. The fixed quote comes after the evaluation, because two drives with the same symptoms can have different faults.
