Network storage holds everything from a family photo library to a whole office’s shared drive. When the volume crashes, the files are almost always still on the drives. We recover data from every common NAS brand and file system.
NAS units we recover
- Synology DiskStation, including SHR and Btrfs volumes
- QNAP, including QuTS hero (ZFS) volumes
- WD My Cloud, My Cloud EX and PR series
- Buffalo LinkStation and TeraStation
- Drobo (no longer supported by the maker)
- Netgear ReadyNAS, TerraMaster, Asustor and home-built NAS
Problems we recover from
- “Volume crashed” or “storage pool degraded” messages
- NAS not found on the network, or stuck at start-up
- Failed drives and interrupted repairs
- Deleted shared folders and snapshots
- Firmware updates that went wrong
- Ransomware attacks on the NAS (see NAS ransomware recovery)
Don’t click “Repair” or “Initialize”. If the NAS reports a problem, shut it down, label the drives with their bay numbers and call us before doing anything else.
How it works
Book online or call, and we collect the drive or you ship it to us. An engineer evaluates it, tells you what can be recovered and gives you a fixed quote. Recovery only starts when you approve it, and we work from a copy of the drive, never your only original.
Questions we get asked
Should I send the whole NAS or just the drives?
Just the drives, labelled with their bay numbers, is usually enough. Send the enclosure too if it’s small, especially for Drobo and encrypted volumes.
My NAS had encryption switched on. Can you still recover it?
Yes, with the encryption key or password. On Synology, that is the key file you were asked to download when encryption was set up.
Start your recovery
Book online for a job number and shipping instructions, or call and talk to an engineer. We evaluate the drive and give you a fixed quote before any recovery work starts.
